My General Thoughts on the 737 MAX (AS 611 SEA-PHX)

An Alaska 737 MAX at The Museum of Flight (Jamsheed Motafram).

Before I publish my trip reports on American Airlines to London and my British Airways experience from London to Phoenix, I decided to write about my general thoughts about my flight on Alaska Airlines 611 from Phoenix to Seattle on a 737 MAX 9. This won't be a traditional trip report per se, but an overview of my feelings towards flying the MAX and how it compares to other 737s.

The Flight

As I started to board my flight to Seattle, I was feeling tired and looked on my Alaska app to see if I was going to be on a MAX and the app said I'll be on a 737 NG. However much to my surprise, I got on a 737 MAX and I was excited to fly on this plane for Alaska Airlines and it was an added bonus to have something like this happen on the final leg. It was an empty flight overall, which allowed me to enjoy my fruit and cheese platter with coffee and a well deserved nap after that.

Can't go wrong with coffee and a fruit/cheese platter (Jamsheed Motafram).

The plane itself was very quiet, smooth and felt more roomy than previous variants. Boeing's Sky Interior product really made the MAX feel more futuristic and new compared to the NG. Plus the crew made this flight even more worthwhile because they shared my enthusiasm on flying the MAX. Once again, Alaska Airlines proves that they are "the best care in the air" and I would like to fly on their 737 MAX 9 again.

Conclusion

Overall, I feel like flying the MAX is safe and overall a very pleasant experience with Alaska Airlines. To fly a new aircraft type was perfect icing on the cake after this long trip to London. So be sure to leave a comment below on your thoughts on the MAX, keep looking to the sky and stay tuned for my trip reports on American Airlines and British Airways coming soon!
